Cat and Mouse

A card depicting a mouse is shown and put to one side. It’s easy to recognise, because on the back there is a large M which stands for mouse, so we always know where he is. Also shown are three cards depicting cats, and they are out to get the mouse! One of the three cats goes and waits by the mouse’s home, which is a mouse hole in a skirting board. The back of the cat card can be seen in the mouse hole, and it’s easy to remember where he is, because his name is Marmalade and he has a big M on his back! The next cat is called Marmaduke and he goes off to chase the mouse. We know where he is because he has a large M on his back. This card is placed with the mouse card. The final cat is called Marmite (!) and he also goes off to chase the mouse. We know where he is because he has a large M on his back. This card is placed with the mouse card and the other cat card. You explain that it doesn’t matter how much you mix up the cards, (do so) because we can always find the mouse as he has a large M on his back! The children point out that ALL the cards have M on the back. Never mind, you say, we’ll have a guessing game. Hold up one of the cards and ask who thinks this is the mouse. You turn it round and say no, that’s Marmaduke. Hold up another of the cards and ask who thinks this is the mouse. You turn it round and say no, that’s Marmite. Hold up the last card and say that this must be the mouse, turn it round and say, no, that’s Marmalade. Say, I told you that M was for mouse. Go to the mouse hole, remove the card and show that it has magically changed into the mouse who was safe and sound after all!

Superb cartoony artwork. The cards are silk screened on card, whist the mousehole is silk screened on plastic. Approximate card size is 9" x 7".

Here's an email received 29/02/08: Hi Jeremy and Cheryl, Just a quick note to say how pleased I am with the Cat and Mouse prop I bought from you in Blackpool (2008) - It is a well made quality item and the colours and design of the cards are exceptional and it's really good value for just £30. I tried it out for the first time yesterday at a party for 9 year old girls and they loved it. Many Thanks again and please let me know of any other Childrens effects you have in the pipe line. Best Wishes P.B.

And another 01/07/08: Received my Cat And Mouse effect today. It is well made and is bound to attract attention in any show. What I particularly like is the mouse hole envelope which provides a powerful climax. This is different from other similar type effects where the card set aside turns out to be the missing card. It's good entertainment with an excellent patter line.Thank you for the prompt service.
Regards, D.S.S. (Singapore)
